How do I scan a board game?
Simply tap the camera icon in the app, point your camera at the game box, and the app will automatically recognize and add it to your collection. Make sure the game title is clearly visible for best results.
How do I create a game night poll?
Go to the Planner tab, tap "New Poll", select the games you want to include, and share the poll code with your friends. They can vote even without the app by using the web link.
How does BoardGameGeek sync work?
Go to Settings, enable "Auto BGG Sync", and enter your BoardGameGeek username. The app will automatically import your collection with full game details, ratings, and images. Pro subscribers get automatic background sync.
What are the Pro features?
Pro subscribers get:
- Unlimited polls and game night sessions
- Automatic BoardGameGeek background sync
- Advanced collection analytics

Can I share my collection with friends?
Yes! You can share your entire collection or individual polls. Friends can view your collection and vote on polls through a web link, even without downloading the app.
Does the app work offline?
Yes! Your collection is stored locally on your device and works completely offline. Cloud sync is optional and keeps your data backed up across devices.
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, tap "Subscriptions", find "Boardgame Scanner & Planner Pro", and tap "Cancel Subscription". You'll retain Pro features until the end of your billing period.
The camera scan isn't working. What should I do?
Make sure you've granted camera permissions in Settings > Privacy > Camera. Ensure good lighting and that the game title is clearly visible. If scanning still doesn't work, you can manually search BoardGameGeek or add games manually.
Troubleshooting
My BoardGameGeek sync isn't working
Ensure your BGG username is spelled correctly and that your collection is set to public on BoardGameGeek. The sync may take a few minutes for large collections. Try pulling down to refresh in the Library tab.
I'm not receiving poll notifications
Check that notifications are enabled in Settings > Notifications > Boardgame Scanner & Planner. Make sure "Allow Notifications" is turned on and that your notification preferences are set correctly in the app.
My games disappeared after updating
Your data should be automatically backed up. Try force-closing and reopening the app. If games are still missing, check if you're signed in to the same iCloud account. Contact support if the issue persists.
